New Executive Director

Mr. Marcelino Estrada has been selected as the Board's Executive Director effective May 1st, 2012.

Renewals for 2012

2012 license renewal is no longer available online. Payment by check or money order must be remitted to the Board along with the Certificate of Late Renewal. Renewals for the 2012 year were mailed out the first week in November, 2011.

RPLS & Reciprocal amended rule

ADMENDED RULE 661.41 WAS EFFECTIVE AUGUST 10, 2011. Applicant applying under these sections will be required to complete two sample survey reports (sketch, map or plat), completed under the direction of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Submissions should be paper copies and also digital copies on CD, DVD, or USB accessible medium. Each survey report should be on a single piece of paper not to exceed 24” x 36”. The digital copy should be in .pdf or similar format. Each survey report should include a certification and a list of all documents reviewed in preparation of the survey. However, a signature and seal are not necessary. One survey should be an urban type survey (residential or commercial platted property) with the other being a rural type survey (metes and bounds). Each report will be evaluated for compliance with the existing Act and Rules. (See the rule in its entirety in the Rules Section 661.41.)

Filing Record of Unknown Cemeteries

Texas Health and Safety Code;

Sec. 711.011.  FILING RECORD OF UNKNOWN CEMETERY.  

(a)  A person who discovers an unknown or abandoned cemetery shall file notice of the cemetery with the county clerk of the county in which the cemetery is located not later than the 10th day after the date of the discovery.  The notice must contain a legal description of the land on which the unknown or abandoned cemetery was found and describe the approximate location of the cemetery and the evidence of the cemetery that was discovered.

(b)  A county clerk may not charge a fee for filing notice under this section.

(c)  The county clerk shall send a copy of the notice to the Texas Historical Commission and file the notice in the deed records of the county, with an index entry referencing the land on which the cemetery was discovered.

Change to Continuing Education hour requirements
  • 664.3 Numerical Requirements for Continuing Education:
    Beginning January 2011, a registrant, to be eligible for renewal of the certificate of registration, must accrue at least twelve (12) hours of completed board approved professional development activities during the immediate preceding twelve months in any annual period. Beginning January 2011 and every year thereafter, a minimum of three (3) of the twelve (12) hours shall be in board developed or approved hours on the Act, Rules, and/or ethics.
Self Education

    (9) a maximum 4 hours of self-directed study in a topic related to the practice of surveying
