Changes in statute and Board rules have affected continuing education requirements in the following ways:

In order to renew for 2012 a surveyor must have 12 continuing education credits by December 31, 2011; a minimum of 3 continuing education credits must be on the Act/Rules and/or Ethics.
- 664.3 Numerical Requirements for Continuing Education:
Beginning January 2011, a registrant, to be eligible for renewal of the certificate of registration, must accrue at least twelve (12) hours of completed board-approved professional development activities during the immediately preceding twelve months in any annual period. Beginning January 2011 and every year thereafter, a minimum of three (3) of the twelve (12) hours shall be in board-developed or approved hours on the Act, Rules, and/or ethics.

- 664.4.Types of Acceptable Continuing Education.
(9) a maximum 4 hours of self-directed study in a topic related to the practice of surveying.

- Surveyors are required to maintain a record of their own continuing education. The Board no longer maintains a record of licensee continuing education.
- After renewal, five percent of the population will be audited and required to provide continuing education certificates. The Board will no longer maintain continuing education records.
